Polymorphisms of RIP2 gene have not been evaluated yet in subclinical atherosclerosis (SA). Four polymorphisms of RIP2 gene were genotyped in 405 individuals with SA and 1099 healthy controls. Under different models, the rs43133 and rs16900627 polymorphisms were associated with increased risk of developing SA. The rs2293808, and rs431264 were associated with clinical or metabolic parameters in SA individuals and in healthy controls. GAAG haplotype was associated with increased risk of developing SA. RIP2 polymorphisms are associated with increased risk of SA and with some clinical and metabolic parameters.
