Silymarin exerts antifungal effects against pathogenic fungi. Silymarin increases membrane permeability by disturbing fungal membrane structure. Silymarin promoted intracellular ROS generation, which leads to peroxidation of membrane lipids. Silymarin has membrane-targeted mechanism against C. albicans.
