Isolation, molecular and phenotypic characterization, and antibiotic susceptibility of Cronobacter spp. from Brazilian retail foods

Cronobacter spp. were isolated from retail foods commercialized in Brazil. A combination of CSB/v and DFI was the most efficient method for Cronobacter isolation. The species C. sakazakii, C. malonaticus, C. dublinensis and C. muytjensii were isolated. New Cronobacter sequence types ST395-ST398, ST402, ST413, ST432-ST439 were described. The Cronobacter isolates from foods did not show antibiotic resistance.
