Climate variability and change regarded a threat to Africa’s agro-ecosystems. This study establishes the potential benefit of integrating local knowledge into climate scenarios. Participatory scenario planning used to explore sectors sensitive to climate variability and change. The survey indicates that farmers expect that land use, agricultural productivity and water resource uses will be affected by climate change. Four thematic scenario categories featuring land use, water resource use and management and farm productivity were developed. Scenario analysis proves to be a useful tool in development planning, as it incorporates interacting risks and uncertainties.
