CHMP7 is highly expressed in rapeseed and Arabidopsis leaves and causes dwarfism and early leaf senescence when overexpressed.

In vivo experiments demonstrate that CHMP7 encodes an endosome-localized protein and interacts with ESCRT-III related components.

In overexpressing-CHMP7 plants, expression of ESCRT transport genes and several senescence-associated genes is significantly affected.
