We investigated the essentiality of ARA and/or DHA using D6D-KO mice. ARA was essential for normal growth of body during the lactation period. However, the supply of ARA reduced the motor coordinated function. Only DHA was insufficient for optimal formation and development. Both ARA and DHA was the benefit without the disadvantages induced by alone. The combination of ARA and DHA was the best in the brain and body.
