摘要
本文介绍了利用卫星测高资料测定的印度洋地震引起的海啸波高的研究成果 ,以及卫星测高数据在对海啸灾害进行预测的应用价值。通过卫星雷达测高可观测到沿卫星星下点轨迹的相距几公里的点上的海面高 ,还提供了特别有价值的对海啸波的连续观测结果
About 2 hours after the deadly Sumatra earthquake,the satellites Jason-1 and TOPEX/POSEIDON flew over the Bay of Bengal,and their radar altimeters measured the wave height in deep waters.The wave heights relative to the average height in previous months are shown,a numerical model simulation of the tsunami wavefront at the time of altimeter measurements are also shown in this paper.Meanwhile ENVISAT and GFO also flew over the region after 3 and 7 hours,respectively,the results by using ENVISAT and GFO satellite altimeter data are also shown.From the results,one can clearly see the big tsunami wave height caused by the Sumatra earthquake.In deep water,the tsunami front displaced water 60cm and 40cm above and below normal after 2 hours.The results shows great potential to improve the tsunami prediction model by using the altimeter data.
