Upstream high chlorine wastewater enters the wastewater treatment plant. After treatment by the wastewater treatment system, the concentration of chloride ion in the effluent is between 3000-5000 mg/L.Due to the interference of chloride ion,the error of COD determination by GB11914-89 analysis method is larger, and the error increases with the increase of chloride ion concentration. In order to eliminate the interference of chloride ion,the equivalent chemical oxygen demand(COD)was determined by complete oxidation method, and the calibration curve of COD-Cl ion was made. The total COD of water sample was measured, and the actual COD of effluent from sewage treatment plant was obtained by subtracting the COD from the theory of chloride ion.The standard deviation of standard sample is between 0.9 and 2.5,and the relative standard deviation of actual sample is 2.8%. The recovery of standard addition is between 95.2 and 105%. It shows that the method is accurate and reliable, and the interference of chloride ion is eliminated effectively.
