A Wideband Quadrature Hybrid Coupler with Unequal Power Division and Harmonic Suppression

A hybrid coupler is developed at 2.0 GHz in this paper, with a 70% fractional bandwidth and good harmonic suppression over 30 d B at 6.0 GHz. The superior performance is mainly achieved by using EBG-/DGS-loaded arms and open circuited coupled lines. By carefully controlling the equivalent characteristic impedances of arms, the unequal power division ratio of 2:1 is also obtained, which has been demonstrated by the good agreement between measured and simulated results. The prototype is with a compact configuration of 48.0×21.5 mm~2.
