In the past, the model test scheme lacked the analysis of resistance function, which led to poor design effect. In order to obtain a ship with good resistance performance, the minimum resistance ship type was studied by using non-linear programming. Taking the total resistance of the sum of wave resistance, viscous pressure resistance and plate friction resistance as the objective function, the design variables are designed to modify the ship form parameters. Setting the necessary basic constraints and combining with the optimization process of minimum resistance ship form, the improved transverse section and line form are analyzed respectively, thus the minimum resistance ship form design is completed. Taking container ships as experimental objects, the resistance of model test scheme and non-linear programming scheme are compared and analyzed. The results show that the non-linear programming scheme is more reasonable because of the obvious drag reduction effect.
