摘要
Atmospheric corrosion of carbon steel is influenced by many environmental parameters, including relative humidity, rain, and sulfur dioxide pollutants, and surface conditions. This paper investigated the effect of these parameters on carbon steel by an electrochemical technique, atmospheric corrosion monitors (ACM), and also evaluated the feasibility of this technique. The outdoor exposure corrosion test and laboratory corrosion test were carried out by ACM technique. Experimental results show that: (a)relative humidity and rain cause the increase of corrosion current of carbon steel, and ACM current can respond satisfactorily to the change of relative humidity and rain; (b)sulfur dioxide can accelerate corrosion of carbon steel and the importance of sulfur dioxide concentration on the corrosion of the steel is close related to relative humidity; (c)salinity and corrosion products play an important role in atmospheric corrosion of carbon steel, and the solution used in copper-accelerated acetic acid salt spray test is more aggressive than that used in neutral salt spray test.
