Chains of ponds rivers are increasingly rare, yet poorly understood geomorphically. Chains of ponds comprise ponds and preferential flow paths with discontinuous flow. Example in good condition is used to establish a physical template for management. This river is recovering from incision, unassisted, by building instream reed beds. Evolutionary history gives context to contemporary geomorphology for management.
