Anti-frosting performance of superhydrophobic surface with ZnO nanorods

A SHP ZnO surface was fabricated through RF magnetron sputtering.

Frost formation on the as-prepared SHP ZnO surface was effectively delayed for over 140 min at −10 °C.

The self-transfer phenomenon was observed at −10 °C.

The mechanism of the anti-frosting behavior of the as-prepared SHP ZnO surface was proposed.

No evident of degradation of the superhydrophobicity was observed after 30 cycles of frosting/defrosting process.
