     The Changde earthquake is one of the largest earthquakes in Southern China. On the basis of previous studies, the inner geometric center method is used to locate the epicenter. Its geological background is analyzed and waveguide effect is used to interpret the morphology of the isoseismic line and other seismic phenomena. Meanwhile, we point out issues relevant to seismic monitoring and prevention in Changde and its surrounding areas.
