摘要
In this paper, M50 mullite was derived directly from high-alumina fly ash, M60 and M70 mullites from the high-alumina fly ash and industrial alumina mixtures were prepared. The physical properties of the sintered mullites could come up to the standard values of sintered mullite of China (YB/T5267-2005). The cost of synthesizing mullite from the high-alumina fly coal ash was largely reduced because of decreasing amount of industrial alumina in preparing mullite. The experimental results showed that the profitable sintering temperature is 1 400 ℃ for the as-received fly ash in preparing low trademark mullite (M50);and 1 500 ℃ for the beneficiated fly ash and/or in preparing high trademark mullite (M60 and M70), respectively.
