Thermoelectric Coefficient of Pyrite from the Xishimen Gold Deposit in Lingshou County, Hebei Province and Its Prospecting Significance
详细信息
摘要
Xishimen quartz vein type gold deposit in Lingshou County of Hebei Province is tectonically located in the Fuping ore-cluster region, Taihang uplift in the central North China platform. It is structurally controlled by different fault system compared with the Shihu large gold deposit in the same region. Pyrite is the main gold-bearing mineral, occurring in four generations including the pyrite-quartz stage (Ⅰ), Quartz-pyrite stage (Ⅱ), polymetallic sulphide stage (Ⅲ) and quartz-carbonate stage (Ⅳ). Pyrite is sparse in stage Ⅳ. The thermoelectric coefficient of the pyrite in this deposit changes in the range between -328 and 341μV/℃. The discreteness of pyrite thermoelectric coefficients firstly increase and then decrease from the early to late stages, and it’s the greatest in stage Ⅱ. The thermoelectric conduction type of pyrite is characterized by P<N in the Ⅰ stage, P≈N in the Ⅱ stage, P>>N in the Ⅲ stage, and P>>N in the Ⅳ stage. With some small fluctuations, the percent of P-type of pyrite (P%), and mean value of the thermoelectric coefficients for the P-type of pyrite (P) gradually decrease from the shallow part to the depth, and there exists a positive correlation between the P%, P values and the gold grade. A calculation with empirical formula implies that the ore deposit is a low-medium temperature gold deposit, whose pyrite crystallization temperature is in the range of 168~330℃。The thermoelectric coefficient of the pyrite in the rich ore segment is confined within the range of 50~200μV/℃. Furthermore, the authors suggest that good exploring prospect for gold in this deposit would be expectable below 290m level.
