Based on the study of field background,structural evolutional characteristics and development history of Yellow River,this paper studies the distribution feature and mechanism of the deep cracks.The result shows that these cracks dip toward to a river or the reverse direction with high angle,belonging to the category of unloading,and are the products of the epigenetic reformation controlled by the early tectonic structural plane and induced by the release of horizontal stress in course of forming bank slopes.
