The north mountain of Chaohu is located at the northwest border of Yangtze plate and near the east side of the famous Tan-Lu fault zone. Geological heritage are rich, typical, clarity and structure outline is complete and the distribution of geological phenomena are tight in the area of 40 km². That is a great place for field practice teaching. The sedimentary deposits are rich in the area of where the limestone mining is larger and the amount of exploitation is bigger. Through the field geological survey, a lot of geological problems are brought out accompanying mine exploitation. The main problems are that the limestone reserves nearly depleted, the problems of environment and geology are serious increasingly, the precious geological heritages are under threat and danger of extinction.
