The feldspars in shoshonite series volcanic rocks from Shengyuan Basin, Jiangxi Province, show typical mineral characteristics, such as plagioclase phenocryst with reversed zoning texture and replacement-edulcoration rim texture, abundant plagioclase microcrystal in groundmass, and the electron-microprobe analysis shows K-feldspar rims around the plagioclase microcrystal, which is an evidence identifying the rocks to be the shoshonite series. By studying the characteristics of feldspar mineral assemblage, the genesis and physico-chemical conditions in the formation of shoshonite series volcanic rocks are discussed.
