In order to organize and manage large volumes of remote sensing data more effectively, the authors have made an all-round study of the present style in organization and management of image data. The functional requirement was analyzed for remote sensing image background database. The database system supports massive, multi-source data management and multi-scale query. It can realize many functions, such as checking of data types and data integrity, import of different data types, data queried by data sources, data acquisition time, image name or latitude and longitude, export and download of the needed images, quick image browse, user management, data security management, database maintenance and data update.
