According to communication achievements of  “The Eighth International Symposium on Land Subsidence” held on October, 2010 in Mexico City, the latest progress and tendency of research on international land subsidence during five years was briefly reviewed, including mechanism analysis of land subsidence, monitoring technology, modeling research, secondary hazards and environmental impact, prevention and management of land subsidence.
