VOD业务的QOS指标测量
摘要
近年来，随着INTERNET普及，以及宽带技术不断应用，各种新型的互联网应用不断地涌现了出来，迅速地改变了人们数字生活方式，VOD、IPTV、VOIP、宽带游戏、网络教育、网上视频电话等业务已经在中国网民的网络生活中占据了重要位置，其中，VOD(Video-on-Demand)业务近年来发展最迅猛，对中国宽带业务影响最为深远。VOD技术是电视技术、计算机技术、网络通信技术、多媒体技术、数字压缩技术等多学科、多领域融合交叉结合的产物。这个业务是目前中国网民最喜爱的一项宽带业务，它将是未来信息高速公路构架的重要组成部分，是未来信息服务中宽带业务的灵魂。
最初以承载为主要功能的IP网络正渐渐地转变为以增值业务运营为主要功能的网络。基于INTERNET的业务(尤其是对实时性和带宽要求严格的VOD业务)的发展不断给网络提出更多的挑战，随着VOD业务的迅猛发展，VOD用户的增长和业务流量的增加，必然会带来网络负荷加重，网络反应慢、视频缓冲时间长、链路带宽不足、扩容投资不断增长，网络规划和网络质量管理缺乏可靠的依据和手段等问题，这是VOD业务的运营商必须要重视和解决的问题。为了解决以上的问题，更好地提供VOD服务，彻底消除VOD业务使用过程中的黑屏、马塞克、图像停格、声音时断等故障，提高VOD用户的满意度，我们需要对VOD业务运行的各种QOS指标进行评估和测量、分析和管理。正确了解和掌握VOD系统的各种QOS指标情况，实现VOD系统的QoS控制，为用户提供满意的服务性能保证，已经成为网络VOD运营商目前一个迫切需要解决的问题。
本文先是简单介绍了VOD业务的特性，然后对QOS特性做了简单介绍，对QOS机制在网络应用中起的作用进行了阐述，并对目前的一些研究成果进行了分析，列举了一些对VOD业务影响巨大的QOS指标，着重讨论了如何对VOD的一些关键的QOS指标集进行测量的常规方法，同时搭建了一个VOD业务QOS指标测量的实验平台，对VOD业务的QOS指标集中的几个重要指标进行了测试，最后，对测试结果进行了分析，研究出这些QOS指标如何影响到VOD业务的正常使用，找出对VOD业务影响最大的几个关键指标，初步提出改善这些关键指标的方法，从而改善VOD业务质量。
In recent years, along with the popularity of Internet, and the extensive use of broadband technology, Various late-model Internet apply is unceasingly coming out, and changes quickly our digital life style. VOD、IPTV、VOIP、Internet-based games、network education、network videophone etc, they play important roles in the network life of the Chinese. Among them, in recent years ,the development of VOD(Video-on-Demand) is the most fast, and VOD affects Chinese broadband business. The technique of VOD is composed of television technique, computer technique、network communication technique、multimedia technique、Image compression technique etc. VOD is Chinese netizen's most favorite business. It will be the important component of the future information highway, and it will be the soul of the future broadband business.
IP network is changing gradually into a network with value-adding function. The Internet-Base business(particularly like VOD business which request realtime processing and bandwidth severely) bring challenge to Internet. along with the fast fierce development of the VOD business, along with the increase of VOD customer and the increase of network flow loads, will bring some problems like the high load of network, the slow-down of network responds, the shortage of the network bandwidth, the increase of investment. VOD Network Operator must take seriously and solve these problem. For solving problem, providing excellent VOD serve, dissolves thoroughly the problem which happen during VOD, increase VOD customer's degree of satisfaction, We need to measure, manage, evaluate, analyzed every kind of QOS parameter. We need to comprehend and master VOD parameter subset, to achieve VOD system QOS control. The improvement of VOD parameter, providing excellent VOD serve, is the aim of the VOD Network Operator.
This paper first introduced the business of VOD of characteristic in brief, then did the simple introduction to the characteristic of QOS, and analyzed current QOS study of every country, discussed the measure method of QOS key parameter. We establish a VOD measure Platform, obtain the data to analyzed. We study how the QOS parameter influence VOD business, and find out the methods to improve VOD.
