CSCL (computer supported collaborative learning) is a new promising research and practice area in global educational technology field. It means a new learning type in which the advantages of computer in information processing and communicating and the cooperative effects of interpersonal interaction is fully used to maximize the learning performance of indivual and community. Some research discovers that only putting learners toward collaborative learning tasks into a computer supported communication space is not enough to get effective collaborative learning. Teachers are confused to lead students to collaborating effectively and students are also confused about how they can collaborate to bring the collaborative effects into play. This can be often found in the application of CSCL. In addition, current CSCL tools and system pay little attention to how to promote collaborative learning interactions. They only offer functions such as learning grouping and other communication function which is similar to the general tools. These problems entail our more and deep research on the nature of interaction in CSCL.
The dissertation, aimed to solve these problems, builds a strategy system of promoting non-face-to-face CSCL interactivities through theoretical study and practice probe of CSCL. The paper further explores and summarizes interactivities organization strategies, micro-interactive behavior expression-feedback strategies and teacher's support, facilitative and management strategies in non-face-to-face CSCL. The dissertation put forward the thought and method of putting these strategies into the design and development of CSCL tool and system finally.
The research of dissertation supplements the shortage of promoting interactivities strategies in CSCL research. It has a great significance to theoretical study and also has important practice value of promoting the application of CSCL especially in distance learning.
The thesis is composed of eight chapters.
Chapter 1 is a overview of the research. It briefly introduces CSCL development and the background and significance of the study. Then the objective, contents and method of the study are defined; finally, the related concepts and the theoretical framework are also clarified.
In chapter 2, the main theoretical foundation and related research achievements
