Porcine islets are regarded as an ideal source of xenogeneic donors in the treatment of human type I diabetes. The pancreas of Wuzhishan pig, which was 1-10 days,40 days,120 days,180 days ages, was used as experimental material. The histological and histochemical characteristics of islets of Wuzhishan pig at different ages after birth were observed. The results showed that there were no typical islets in the pancreas of Wuzhishan pigs 1-10 dafter birth, but the typical islets and glucagon immunoreactive cells could be seen on 180 dafter birth. There were insulin immunoreactive cells, glucagon immunoreactive cells and somatostatin immunoreactive cells in the pancreas of Wuzhishan pigs at different postnatal days, and the distribution area of these cells increased with the age of day.
