Nowadays, the survival environment of traditional Wushu in China is not optimistic. In order to clarify the present situation of Chinese traditional Wushu,This paper makes a thorough investigation of the northwest Tianqi cudgel through literature material method and field survey method. It is believed that the reasons for the decline of traditional Wushu could include the subjective factors existing in traditional Wushu--such as the phenomenon of self closure and subjective negative in traditional Wushu; as well as the objective constrains in Wushu inheritance—such as the state pays more attention on competitive Wushu and ignore the traditional sports, and the social development in some regions are left behind to restrict the development of traditional Wushu.
