Bluebeard is a household fairy tale in the West. This article focuses on three Bluebeard stories by Carter, Atwood and Coover, exploring their differences from the original Bluebeard tale by Charles Perrault and the interaction between the said texts and the historical and cultural contexts in which they are produced. It thus discusses the rewriting of Bluebeard, with new plot and new clues within its old framework, has constantly enriched its meanings and provided it with new perspectives, reflecting and revealing social, political and cultural concerns in various aspects and levels in the west in the late 20~(th) and early 21~(st) centuries.
