摘要
Laboratory-scale batch column experiments using several 3L cylindrical reactors were conducted to evaluate the characteristics of different capping materials ( e.g.natural zeolite, calcite, and composite material with natural zeolite and calcite)on the reduction of phosphorus and ammonium released from nutrient-rich sediments. Each column was filled with sediments (5cm thickness). The sediments in four columns were covered by natural zeolite of 20.6 kg/m2,calcite of 20.6 kg/m2,calcite of 13.7 kg/m2,and composite material with calcite of 13.7 kg/m2 and natural zeolite of 6.9 kg/m2,respectively.The change of water quality in supernatant solution was monitored for 50 days in each column. The results showed that capping with natural zeolite and composite material ( natural zeolite + calcite) can effectively retard ammonium transport from sediments under anaerobic conditions. However, capping with calcite had litde effect on the reduction of ammonium released from sediments. The results also indicated that phosphorus flux reductions ranged from 59% to 98% were obtained by these selected capping materials used in this study.Phosphorus reduction efficiencies of calcite of 20.6 kg/m2 and 13.7 kg/m2 were 98% and 82%,respectively,whereas natural zeolite of 20.6 kg/m2 only about 59%.Moreover,there was about 88% reduction of phosphorous flux for composite material with calcite of 13.7 kg/m2 and natural zeolite of 6.9 kg/m2.These findings suggest that capping with composite material (natural zeolite + calcite) might be an effective method to simultaneously prevent phosphorus and ammonium release from nutrient-rich sediments under anaerobic condition.
