摘要
Deep/deepwater wells typically operate under HPHT ( High Pressure and High Temperature) conditions, with pressures greater than 69 MPa and/or temperatures greater than 150℃.Operating under HPHT conditions poses significant challenges for well tubular designs,in particular, casing and tubing connections. For example, large variations in the well temperature and pressure can cause significant concern for the structural integrity and leakage resistance of tubular connections. For the casing and casing connection designs, the interactions among the completion, well cement and the surrounding formations must also be considered in the completion design. This paper proposes a finite element analysis ( FEA) methodology for evaluating casing and tubing connections for HPHT applications.Over many years of research,FEA of tubular connections has been proven to be an important and useful approach in the preliminary assessment for design optimization, the specification of specimen geometries and materials for full-scale physical tests, and the post-mortem evaluations.Several considerations for modeling, analysis and assessment criteria are presented. An analysis example with a generic premium connection is presented to demonstrate the use of the proposed methodology.
