Scalar dissipation and flame surface density in premixed turbulent combustion

摘要
A new closed version of the transport equation for the flame surface density in premixed turbulent combustion is derived, on the basis of an equation for the scalar dissipation that has previously been proposed by the present authors. As in this earlier work, volume expansion due to heat release is found to have an important role in determining the flame surface density. An algebraic approximation to the transport equation is obtained, on the basis of an order-of-magnitude analysis, and is found to be in good agreement with data from DNS.
