Since X-rays were discovered in 1895 and radiological methods were developed in medical sciences, these techniques have been applied in forensic medicine for estimating age in living and dead subjects. Virtually all of the skeletal and dental areas have been used to perform this estimation. This paper presents a short review of some of these methods and, more precisely, the state of the art in relationship to forensic age estimation in living subjects of around 18 years old by radiological means. This last topic is currently one of the most routine applications of radiodiagnostics in forensic medicine.
