The tetrameric, multi-FeIII-containing polyoxotungstates [Feb>14 b>Ob>6 b>(OH)b>13 b>(Pb>2 b>Wb>15 b>Ob>56 b>)b>4 b>]31鈥?/sup> (<b>1b>) and [Nab>2 b>Feb>14 b>(OH)b>12 b>(POb>4 b>)b>4 b>(A-伪-XWb>9 b>Ob>34 b>)b>4 b>]20鈥?/sup> (X = SiIV (<b>2b>), GeIV (<b>3b>)) have been successfully synthesized under conventional reaction conditions in aqueous, slightly acidic (<b>1b>), or basic (<b>2b> and <b>3b>) media. Polyanions <b>1-3b> were characterized in the solid state by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and magnetic studies, and in solution by electrochemistry.
