Ce3+-doped apatite LiGd9(SiO4)6O2 phosphors were prepared by using a solid-state reaction technique. Two types of Ce3+-emitting centers exist in the phosphors LiGd9(SiO4)6O2:Ce3+. Ce(1) at 4f site shows emission at about 390 nm, while Ce(2) at 6h site shows emission at about 430 nm.
