Energy-based evaluation of liquefaction potential under non-uniform cyclic loading

Undrained cyclic triaxial tests using non-uniform loading were performed. The effect of a singular large-amplitude peak on liquefaction strength is explored. Liquefaction resistance is shown to depend strongly on the loading pattern. The pore pressure build-up is uniquely related to the cumulative dissipated energy. Energy-based methods are a promising tool for evaluating liquefaction resistance.
