Transient spray cooling: Similarity of dynamic heat flux for different cryogens, nozzles and substrates

Similarity of dynamic heat flux with different cryogens, nozzles, and substrates was observed. Transient spray cooling can be divided into fast boiling and film evaporation cooling stages. Correlations of maximum heat flux and the corresponding time were proposed. Bi∗ number was defined as the ratio between internal and surface heat resistance. Maximum heat flux with expansion-chamber nozzle can be increased by 16.7% for R404a.
