Zinc monocarboxyphenoxy phthalocyanine is linked to human serum albumin and chitosan via amide bond formation. The conjugates showed improved fluorescence, triplet and singlet oxygen quantum yields. Conjugation improved the dark cytotoxicity (against cancer cells) of the phthalocyanine.
