BODIPY models with attached dimethylaminostyryl substituents were synthesized. The nonlinear optical properties of functionalized BODIPY models were studied. The nonlinearities are dependent on the number of dimethylaminostyryl substituents. Electron-donating groups enhance second and third order NLO response of BODIPY.
