First geochronological dating (U-Pb SHRIMP) of a tuff layer in the Pilmatué Member of the Agrio Fm (Neuquén Basin, Argentina) is presented.
The tuff occurs in an ammonite zone equivalent to the A. radiatus Zone, which in the West Mediterranean marks the entrance in the Hauterivian.
The absolute age of 130.0 ± 0.8 Ma is the first numerical data that could help constraining the Hauterivian lower boundary and its duration.
