A core-satellite structured Fe3O4-Au@TiO2 substrate was prepared. The substrate can be used to monitor Cr(VI) with evident sensitivity lasting 30 days. The Cr(VI) photo-reduction can be in situ monitored by SERS. This platform provides an alternative method for quantitative determination of Cr(VI).
