We examined the relative importance of eight motivation regulation strategies. Three samples of German high-school and university students participated. Relative weights analyses enabled us to control for multicollinearity. Results consistently revealed mastery self-talk as the most effective strategy. We found no moderating effects of individual disposition factors.
