We discuss regional differences in China's fossil energy consumption. We employ the deviation index and Gini ratio to study energy consumption. Annual energy consumption as well as cumulative energy consumption is analyzed. Decomposing Gini index by three methods is rarely seen in relevant studies. Change in per capita energy consumption causes the overall Gini index to decline.
