A simplified reliability method is proposed for practical geotechnical design. Equivalent random parameters are derived to consider the spatial variability. The equivalent mean and standard deviation are both smaller than the point values. Slope reliability is evaluated using routine methods with the equivalent parameters. The proposed method significantly reduces the computational efforts.
