The response of macroinvertebrates to a moderate-magnitude high flow event was examined. Quantitative hydroecological relationships were additionally investigated. Abundance and taxonomic richness decreased significantly by 90% and 60% respectively. Optimal ranges for flow velocity, water depth and substrate type were derived. Quantitative information is provided for the application of environmental flows.
