Pore-scale supercritical CO2 dissolution and mass transfer under drainage conditions

Pore-scale drainage and scCO2 dissolution experiments were conducted in a sandstone- analogue pore network. A novel fluorescent dye was used for tracking water pH changes with scCO2 dissolution. Mechanisms of scCO2 dissolution and mass transfer with dynamic two-phase configurations were observed and analyzed. The ratio of interface area to water body volume dominated scCO2 dissolution and mass transfer.
