Characterization of population genetic differentiation is fundamental for selective breeding of rainbow trout. Identification of population of origin of farmed fish is often required to address production issues. This is the first report of the genetic relationships among the eight Troutlodge breeding populations. The SNP panel has sufficient power for genetic assignment of commercial rainbow trout strains used in this study.
