摘要

This second edition of“Historical Geology”follows the same general plan of presentation that was used in the first edition, and the author has kept in mind the fact that the book will be used chiefly by students who are interested in the cultural aspect of the subject. It is very encouraging to see the large numbers of students who are studying elementary physical and historical geology, because both subjects contain a great deal of material that is both valuable and interesting.
