摘要
Current best management practices for stormwater infiltration recommend pretreatment prior to discharge to the infiltration area, and discourage infiltration from commercial or industrial sites, particularly in soils with very high hydraulic conductivity and low organic content, due to the high potential for transport of soluble pollutants to groundwater. Several sites in Maine, however, were developed using infiltration for stormwater management prior to development of these practices. Two of these sites have sufficient groundwater monitoring data to allow statistical analysis these data document egradation of groundwater quality, although without consistent violation of drinking water standards or other water quality criteria.
