摘要
the present article is intended to give a brief account of the computational work of isostatic reduction for 208 gravity stations established throughout almost every part of China Proper by means of means of the Holweck-Lejay pendulum and then to tabulate the results .In certain details ,the nature and origin of the materials based on which the reduction was done have been discussed .The work involves all the now existing schemes and assumptions of isostatic reduction ,namely those of Hayford-Bowie ,Heiskanen and Vening Meinesz . Three categories of isostatic anomalies are thus listed along with the Free Air and the Bouguer anomalies .A study of them which may ultimately throw some light on the crustal structures of the continent will be dealt with in a second paper .
