Application of Formation Pressure Early-Prediction Method in Thailand Gulf Basin
详细信息
摘要
Formation pressure plays a most significant role in hydrocarbon exploration, especially in the offshore low-exploration-degree areas without enough wells or with few wells. Using available data to make the early prediction of formation pressure has become the key of exploration activity. Block D is a new area with low-exploration-degree, and drilling has not been conducted yet. Only 2D seismic data and a small area of 3D seismic grid are available. The comprehensive petroleum geology research of the neighboring block is relatively thorough, and oil/gas discovery has been obtained, which indicates a good oil/gas exploration prospect in Block D. Therefore, through the application of 3D velocity spectrum and SDT data from the neighboring Well E1, the prediction of longitudinal pressure distribution is made by applying the revised Philippon method, and this prediction is relatively accordance with the longitudinal distribution characteristics of the measured formation pressure of the neighboring block after the correction of system error, which provides the reference for the next well location deployment and exploration activity. This method provides an effective way for the formation pressure prediction of offshore areas with low - exploration-degree.
