摘要

In this paper, the authors report pollen fossils from red beds overlying Triassic strata in the ace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />aceName w:st="on">QumalaiaceName> aceType w:st="on">BasinaceType> of southern ace w:st="on">aceName w:st="on">QinghaiaceName> aceType w:st="on">ProvinceaceType>ace>. A poorly preserved but geologically significant pollen flora was discovered from a calcilutite at the middle part of the very thick red beds. This gray calcilutite is widely distributed in the mountain basins in the northern Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, often used as a marker bed by field geologists for stratigraphic correlation. The palynological assemblage is dominated by various Schizaeoisporites forms, with a small amount of Ephedripites and Classopollis. It is be assigned to a Late Cretaceous age. The predominance of Schizaeoisporites with few humid plant pollens and spores in the flora indicates that there an arid climate dominated southern ace w:st="on">aceName w:st="on">QinghaiaceName> aceType w:st="on">ProvinceaceType>ace> in the Late Cretaceous.
