In order to make clear of the controlling action of the faults in the hydrocarbon migration and accumula- tion of Fuyang oil reservoirs in Shang No. 2 Block of Sanzhao Sag, the geometric characteristics, growth index of the faults, extension rate of the profiles, tectonic evolution history and so on are analyzed. The studies show that faults are characterized by nearly SN strike, small scale but intensive--intensively faulted belts on the plane and inter- graben-horst tectonic pattern in profile. Seven active periods for the faults happen in the following deposition peri- ods: Huoshiling, Shahezi, Yingcheng, Quantou-Qingshankou~ Yaojia, Nenjiang Member 1 and 2 and Nenjiang Member 3-Quaternary System ; type Ⅰ-Ⅱ and type Ⅰ-Ⅲ faults are formed in the rift period, type Ⅱ-Ⅲ and type I1 faults are generated in the depression period, both kinds of the faults act as conducting roles for the petroleum mi-gration, in detail, type Ⅰ-Ⅲ and type Ⅱ-Ⅲ faults are rift conducting ones; the faults control the accumulation of the hydrocarbon, the horsts and adverse fault benches near the boundary of the intensively faulted belts are the most favorable positions for the petroleum enrichment and accumulation.
